From the 80's to Now

{Before}

So I think I am almost done with this dining room table project (phew!). It has been an all-consuming thing, as dining room table projects are because the dining room table is the nucleus of our house activity in many ways (laundry piles, dinners, art projects, etc., etc., etc.).

{Sanding}

{Painting}

{Done. Except I need to put some sort of anti-shine treatment on it.}
So, overall, I think the top color is a little too white and the whole thing is too shiny, but I think it looks better than it did. Who knows? Maybe I'll go back and just paint the entire top brown like the base. I've got a guy at Sherwin Williams looking into special ordering a flat polyurethane, which will help with the shine. Until then, I'm just going to use the table and be grateful this project is over (mostly, hopefully).

I think it looks fantastic! I don't think I'd have the guts to tackles such a big project so I'm completely impressed!

good job sarah. way to transform a family heirloom so its completely unidentifiable. Jk jk :) You have a good eye sister

If that ol' table could talk... I remember moving the leaves quite often to accommodate more guests. I'm so happy Finn and Luce will get the chance to do that as well with the same table. Awesome that it can stay in the family.

that table was given to us by Mossie when I finished my OB/GYN residency, which you may know already.

Sarah! It's me Tara! WOW! that table looks great - way to tackle that project. It's no surprise really, you've always had a knack for this kind of thing. You're amazing! So fun to see pics of your kidlets, they're soooo cute! Way to go with the 1/2 marathon and the likes. I thought I was doing good to be running a 5K next weekend in SLC. I simply have no desire to run anything beyond that . . . . so props to you! And wish me luck in my meager 3.1 mile 'jaunt' through downtown Salt Lake!

It looks great! Our dinning room table looks very similar to yours...and now you have just inspired me. I may have to wait a while though, I have way too many furniture projects-to-be-painted piling up...waiting for warm weather. I love it though!

oh man, i've set that table so many times in my life. sometimes i would make it abnormally small and pretend we had a smaller family, my favorite was to put candles on the table and turn the lights off, that would last about 2 minutes and then mom would say, "ok. turn the lights on, we can't see our food."
