How She Went Down
Last night was our Relief Society Birthday dinner and above is the invitation for it. I was inspired by this for the invitation.
We wanted to keep the serving to a minimum and actually we didn't have to lift a finger once the evening started. Everything was on the table: the chicken salad sandwiches, chocolate dipped strawberries, cupcakes and veggie trays with dip.
I loved how the vegetable trays turned out too (thanks to this talented gal).
As I'm typing this, I'm polishing off the cupcake I saved and man, is it good. I got the idea for them here and this gal did a phenomenal job making her signature chocolate cupcake with buttercream frosting.

If I could just have one of those cupcakes ready to eat whenever I felt like eating one!
Overall, it was pretty inexpensive to pull off (the perfect recession kind of event). The wheat grass cost next to nothing to make, and the balloons were a Wal-Mart special. We just had to rent a helium tank to fill them, but if I do this again, I would just buy the balloons already blown up by the dozen at the party store (I think it would've been cheaper, plus alot less work).
This was alot of fun to execute. Now I've got to keep a mental storage of ideas for next year's party.

I'm so glad you posted pictures of this! I've got ours on the 17th and the wheat grass centerpieces are on the ticket.
Everything looks great!
It looks amazing. Now they'll ask you to do it every time. That is a great idea that you already had everything served.

Beautiful, Sarah! I would have loved to come to that party. I loved how you didn't have to be in the kitchen working while everyone else was eating and visiting. Great ideas..
Jayna,
I got the white pots at a yard sale last Summer for less than $2 a piece. For the wheat grass you just lay wheat berries on dirt and water it. In about five or six days, you have tall wheat grass. Good luck.
Thanks,
Sarah
This looks so simple, but beautiful and yummy!
I love your blog, I look at it all the time, I am a friend of your mom-in-law's, and got your site from hers.
I want to grow wheat grass, where can I get the seeds?
I loved the wheat grass! It was funny because I had tried to grow some the month before. But I used some VERy old wheat and it didn't work. So I was thrilled to come home with my little pot of it, as well as to enjoy the centerpieces of it all night. Thanks I had a wonderful time. Can I get your chicken salad recipe from you- the croissants were amazing! (BTW, I love your blog. I can't believe what an incredible cook you are, just reading your blog makes me hungry- wish I lived at your house!)
I have to tell you, you are so talented!!!! Every little party you throw, every thing you make ALWAYS seems to turn out beautifully! The RS dinner was stunning. It was such a refreshing, nice, spring-welcoming dinner. Thanks for all you do!
