This Is How I Feel
This shirt typifies how I feel today: stretched, wrinkled, stained, not long enough, dirty and just plain sick of wearing. I just want an escape today. Something to unravel the tension of a week of childtending. But what?
What do you do when you need an escape? (And please, don't mention going to Hawaii, because as much as I'd like to go, that is not an option.) Let's be practical!
As a sidenote: I have drawers full of shirts like this. Ones that were on sale at Target or the Gap and I thought, "Must have plain, basic layering options," then flung them in my cart. Part of me wants to just go through my drawers and throw out every piece of clothing remotely like this shirt, but then part of me thinks, "What if I need a painting shirt?"

I love to leave the kids behind and go hang out at Barnes and Noble (or any similar bookstore). They usually have cushy chairs and its QUIET.
Sarah, what works for one, might not work for another...but here's what I do.
I put on some music that I KNOW will make my heart happy. Something tried and true, that always lifts my spirits.
I also love to take a hot steamy bath.
I hope you find your happy place today.
I like to go to Barnes and Noble and read magazines. I also go to a movie by myself if it's been a really bad day.
Bath time, for sure. Good music, lots of candles and yummy lotion for afterwards.
Hang in there!
I wait until hubby is home, find a good book, bath salts, and enjoy a long soak with a good book. Must be leisurely, not rushed.
i'm feeling about like your shirt today too.
i think you need cookies
I feel the same way about my wardrobe. Check out the sales on Old Navy. They have some good ones right now and if you buy something for your kid and put in BABYMAT all caps at the end then you get free shipping. You really can't beat free shipping because you can always take it back and didn't even have to waste money. I just bought their v-ball t-shirt and Dan's been wanting me to get rid of my Pasco Volleyball 93' t-shirt, so I think after this arrives I might retire it for him and frame it. I'm always thinking about the painting thing with my jeans, but then I think na and I take them home to my sister. She's wearing all my hand me downs, and I feel kind of sorry for her but next time around I should have some better options.
throw it out. and remember, you need a new, crisp white shirt every six months. use them for rags if you must, but don't keep them around.
When I need an escape I lay down on the ground outside. I don't know what it is but it seems to focus and refresh.
